Yorkshire Regional AGM

Cober Hill, Cloughton near Scarborough
From 4.30 on Friday 9th until after lunch on
Sunday 11th December 2011

In February 2011 our AGM and yoga day was incredibly popular again, this time with Zoe Knott and her husband Hugh Grainger. The room was packed and buzzing. This year it's the turn of North Yorkshire to host the AGM and it has been decided to incorporate it into the Regional Congress at Cober Hill in Scarborough. As usual this promises to be a wonderful event with a very well-respected tutor Jonathan Monks, as well as lots of other things to look forward to.

Come and join us at our Yorkshire Congress with AGM

Our guest tutor, the internationally recognised Jonathan Monks, will:

  • Present a talk on his 23 years of yoga practice and finding his guru
  • Teach a beneficial vinyasa sequence
  • Take us through a pranayama vinyasa with four-part breathing
  • Hold a meditation session

You will also have the opportunity to attend classes with popular and experienced teachers from the Yorkshire Region including:

Honouring the Moment with Jane Lewis

As well as a BWY yoga teacher Jane is a professional astrological consultant. Her session is designed around the planetary energies of the actual horoscope for the time and place in which we will be working. Incorporating fairly gentle yet energising postures and traditional yoga practices, just come along and enjoy!

Chakras Old and New with Anita Bulwer

Anita has been around Yoga and coming to Cober Hill for more years than she cares to remember. Many of you will know her as a teacher and ex-DCT. Chakras are sometimes thought to be airy-fairy, New Age or irrelevant. In this workshop, we will examine how we can view the Chakra concept with a more practical, down to earth and psychological aspect.>

Rainbow Energy with Alison Bell

Alison has been teaching for 12 years, recently completing an 8 month course in YogaNidra with the SatyanandaSchool. Working on the theory that “we are what we think”, Alison will use visualisation with movement, breathing anddeep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) to colour ourselves positive.

The Flying Dragon with Pauline Coyle

Pauline is a BWY Foundation Course Tutor and edits Wheels Within. This session will focus on Yang Yoga, specifically the Flying Dragon sequence which involves a combination of circular and spiral movement patterns within a dynamic asana practice. This approach, whilst stimulating energy centres, promotes safe and fluid physical movement.

Transformations with Alan Balfour

Alan holds a doctorate in Immunology, is a Reiki master and holds diplomas in hypnosis, hypnotherapy and meridian therapies. During The Still Point he will demonstrate techniques to improve strength, balance and flexibility, positively affecting energy systems. With Magical Transformations he will illustrate gentle inner journeys for healing and transformation.

Our organiser and Regional Officer, Janet Rhodes will give us an overview of the weekend. We will be treated to an introductory yogasession with Alison Goodwin; JudyDownie will take us through a pranayama meditation to stimulate chakra energy; there will be an energising class with Linda Dunne; "A place on the Earth" with Peter Graves and Tony Byrne will be presenting one of his popular teachings.

Not only but also:

  • The evening entertainment includes anamusing yoga quiz, Bollywood Dancing with Kath Morgan Thompson and a talk and meditation with Jonathan Monks
  • There will be the opportunity to browse and purchase Yoga related goods in the Market Place including an exclusive clothing sale from Alison Bell (one of the last chances you’ll get to buy some of those amazingly hard-wearing yoga trousers).
  • Breakfast, lunch, dinner and morning and afternoon refreshments are inclusive in the very reasonable weekend rate.

Very few yoga weekends offering such variety are available for this amazing price.
